Keep rescuing animals. You might lose your mind, but you will surely find your soul.

Rebel Rescue Ohio is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that was created to help small domestic and exotic animals in need. The “Ranch” has the space and availability to take in and help more critters!

We provide sanctuary, funding, vet care and find homes for unwanted or abandoned pets. If ever there is a case that we can not take on, we try to find someone who can!

Thank You for helping us continue to grow and become bigger and better at what we do. Please help by spreading our mission, follow, like and share on Facebook and Instagram!

Meet the Animals

Bunnies

Bunnies!

We love bunnies and know they can live approximately 6-12 years depending on the breed. Please consider this commitment before giving anyone a baby bunny as an “Easter gift”. Almost every bunny we have had were once gifts that kids lost interest in. The amount of clean up and training can take longer than you thought. Many families give up and surrender their pet after 1-2 years. Whatever you do, please do not let your house bunny go in the wild—they do not know how to survive and have very little instincts when it comes to escaping predators! We are currently working with other local rescues that do not take rabbits and have over 50 in our care. If you are interested in giving one of our bunnies a loving home, want to foster, or buy supplies for them, please contact us for more info!

Guinea Pigs & Mini Pigs!

Guinea Pigs & Mini Pigs!

These little critters and cute, funny and make noises that we can’t help but smile about! Most pet stores and farmers sell guinea pigs/mini pigs to families with very little background information on how to properly care for them. They poop, a lot! Proper cleaning and time spent outside of their cage/stall is very important. Just like many other critters, sometimes they want held or pet, other times they do not. It is important to understand that anything that has teeth can bite! If you have been thinking about buying a guinea pig or possible mini pig to keep as pet, do your research, because although we love these little guys, we would hate to see them be given up on.

Rats, Ferrets & Other Furry Friends!

Yep! We said rats! Most people think of these critters as unwanted pests- not pets! However, they are very smart, usually love to cuddle, are very active, fun to watch and feed. They can be very stinky if not properly taken care of. Females tend to smell less than males. They live only around 3 years. Ferrets and other small furry caged critters are also always welcome here at the ranch! If you do not see the specific pet you are looking for on our FB/Instagram page, fill out an application and I will contact you when that particular animal becomes available. All applications are good for one year.

Birds!

Birds of all shapes, sizes and breeds- we take domestic birds only, however, a few birds that would normally be considered “wild” have been surrendered by families, like these two doves pictured above. I do NOT help wild life nor am I qualified in that category, but I have taken in domesticated finches, doves and other birds that were in need of rehabilitation, vetting and were unable to be released back into the wild. We absolutely adore hearing our sanctuary birds sing to music- but keep in mind, they will also sing to your dad’s football game! Keep in mind-Birds can be loud- messy and need proper house temperatures to live long, healthy, happy lives. Certain smells, candles, air fresheners and even cooking oils can be very harmful. Please research the type of bird that you might be interested in getting before making the commitment.

Lizards & Exotics!

Lizards & Exotics!

We have taken many lizards, turtles, snakes, and even unwanted pet frogs that were a fun gift for the kids at the time, but after they quickly lost interest and the pet store didn’t accept returns- families had no idea what to do with them! Many reptiles need larger cages as they grow and proper heat bulbs that can get expensive. Most reptiles also eat BUGS! That you have to also keep in your home, alive, ready to be fed to your scaly friends daily. Please keep this in mind when thinking about bringing home one of these new family members. They are so cool to watch, feed and hang out with. Lizards our one of my favorite critters to take care of, don’t me wrong- we just try to list the main concerns and reasons why these pets didn’t work out in their homes in the past.
